What are reserves?
Reserves are books or other materials that instructors have selected as required or supplementary resources for a course.
Where are the reserves located?
Reserves are located at the MHC library service desk. To check out a reserve, ask for the item by providing the course name and title of the reserve. Your MHC student ID is required to borrow materials.
How do I find out what is on reserve for my class?
The materials on reserve are organized by the course name. The menu on the left lists all the courses that currently have materials on reserve. Click on your course to find the list of materials your instructor has placed on reserve.
How long is the loan period for reserve materials?
Reserve materials have a short loan period. The library staff will let you know when the item is due back, and you will also receive an email sent to your student email account notifying you of the loan period.
How do I avoid late fees for reserve materials?
It is important to return reserve materials to the library staff at the service desk, do not put the materials in a library return box. Reserve materials are fined $1.00/hour up to a maximum of $15.00 per day.
Can I extend the loan period of a reserve or take it out again after returning the item?
You can borrow a reserve item again after waiting the same length of time as its loan period.
For example, if the loan period is two hours, you need to return the item then wait two hours before checking it out again.
Maximum wait time for loan periods greater than a day is 24 hours.
