Journal Article - from a Library (Subscription) Database

  • When citing a periodical publication from a library database include the title of the database or platform (italicized) and location (doi), where available.

  • MHC Library Services does not recommend including URLs as found in the library databases. Guidance on when to include URLS is available here: https://style.mla.org/2016/11/02/urls-some-practical-advice/

  • Provide the full publication date in the format shown below.
  • Include volume and issue, if provided.
  • If pages are not consecutive, use a plus sign (+) after the first page (e.g., 68+).

  • If the city name is not included in the name of the newspaper, add the city in square brackets.
  • If pages are not consecutive, use a plus sign (+) after the first page (e.g., A5+).
