What are OERs?

"Open Educational Resources (OERs) are any type of educational materials that are in the public domain or introduced with an open license. The nature of these open materials means that anyone can legally and freely copy, use, adapt and re-share them." (cited from UNESCO)

  • OERs can range from subject include textbooks, classroom modules, lesson plans, video content, and other media that are freely accessible.
  • While they are open, they are not "free" of restrictions. OERs are covered by open copyright-licenses that specify how they can be used, reused, adapted, shared and modified according to specific needs.
  • Learn more about OERs including, learning & teaching, legal and technical considerations by visiting the OER Library Guide.
